Let’s Go Shopping: LA
I grew up in Los Angeles and have lived here long enough to know some special places to shop. Today I’m sharing my guide to luxury boutiques in LA. This town has a store for every mood and occasion. So, if you’re hunting for something specific or just looking to browse, here are the places to go.
Mameg - 417 N Camden Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210
One of my favorite shopping destinations in Beverly Hills, Mameg feels like a hidden treasure. Ari, the owner, is so cool and has such a great eye, and her client base is just as eclectic. Expect a beautiful mix of avant-garde and luxury designers, including Comme des Garçons, Sofie D’Hoore, and Loewe, plus artsy, hard-to-find pieces that make every visit feel like discovering something new. They also carry Sonia Boyajian, an incredible Armenian artist who creates the coolest jewelry and home accessories. I found the most amazing Margiela trousers there that I wore at FW - extra special because they’re from the last collection Galliano designed! I even met Pamela Shamshiri there, the founder of Studio Shamshiri, who I’m a big fan of!
Maxfield - 8825 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90069
Maxfield is an LA institution and I’ve been shopping here for years. The store is as much an art gallery as it is a boutique, with a collection that mixes high fashion with innovative designs. Here, you can find brands like Balenciaga, Rick Owens, and Saint Laurent. Every corner is filled with something new and unexpected. Definitely a must-visit if you're in West Hollywood, or you can try their Malibu location.
H.Lorenzo - 8660 W Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069
Right on Sunset, H.Lorenzo features both established and emerging designers from around the world. They carry a curated selection of designers like Haider Ackermann, The Row, and Rick Owens, along with some up-and-coming names that you won’t see everywhere. The vibe is clean and sleek and every time I stop in, I leave with pieces that have personality.
Just One Eye - 915 N Sycamore Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038
Just One Eye feels like a carefully curated art exhibit full of bold, one-of-a-kind pieces. The selection is a stunning mix of thoughtfully selected designers - think Rabanne, Fear of God, and Highsport. Every time I go in, I feel like I’m seeing things I haven’t seen before. There’s an effortless sophistication to the store, and a cool, edgy vibe that makes it perfect for finding an interesting look.
Curve - 154 N Robertson Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90048
My good friend Nevena owns this gem, curating a selection of emerging brands from all over the world. She’s also one of my husband's good friends and has known him for over 20 years! If you're looking for unique pieces, this is the spot. I can always count on this boutique to have items that feel fresh, but still timeless. Nevena even carries an Armenian-owned brand from Paris called Armine Ohanyan.
Dover Street Market - 608 Imperial St, Los Angeles, CA 90021
Last but not least is Dover Street Market. The original store is in London, but they have locations all over the world, from New York to Singapore to Beijing to Paris and, of course, Los Angeles. Created by Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo, Dover Street Market is known for their one-of-a-kind collaborations. This year, they are celebrating their twenty-year anniversary with more than eighty collabs featuring anniversary items and custom t-shirts and tote bags. How cool is that?
Each of these spots has its own unique vibe and special offerings. Next time you're in LA, check them out and let me know what you find!
