Welcome to my first Substack post! I’m thinking of this as a weekly journal entry, where I’ll share where I’m going, what I’m doing, and, of course, what I’m wearing. You can expect notes on fashion, food and drink, travel, shopping, interior design, hosting, and more.
Today, I thought I’d recount my recent trip to New York for Fashion Week. It was a few weeks ago now but, as I write this from sunny Los Angeles, I remember the cold weather like it was just yesterday. As a girl born and raised in LA, you might think I’d shudder at winter dressing but it’s just the opposite. February in New York is the perfect time to layer and mix materials, shapes, colors, and prints. I packed with the help of my best friend, Rob (see: here and here), and these are the looks we landed on.
Vintage suede jacket from Jen Wonders Studio, Darkpark jeans, Hermes clutch from Vivrelle (use code TANIA304), Dries Van Noten mules
On my first night in New York, I had dinner at Blue Willow in Midtown. Michael and I have been going here for years and it’s my favorite spot for Chinese food in the city. Order the mapo tofu and peking duck - trust me.
Khaite fringe coat, Caldezonia stockings, Jimmy Choo pumps and clutch
I wore this incredible coat to dinner the next night. I love how it transforms from tightly knit Merino wool into layers of soft fringe.
Vintage fur jacket from Jen Wonders Studio, COS jeans, Dries Van Noten mules, Miu Miu bag, DMY sunglasses (wearing on repeat), Toteme gloves.
This look took me from a fitting with Khaite to lunch at Sant Ambroeus. I love the combination of fur, suede, denim, and leather, and think that the textures made for a warm and chic daytime outfit for running errands around the city.
Frankie Shop coat, Dark Park pants, Lafayette 148 sweater, Jimmy Choo shoes and bag
I wore this to a meeting and then around the city for some quick errands. I was so excited to style my new Jimmy Choo Isa 95s and was really happy with the look that came together.
If you couldn’t tell, I’m having a bit of a leopard print moment. I couldn’t leave New York without capturing it. Which brings me to…
Khaite jacket, pants, shoes, bag, and glasses. Aritzia turtleneck. Hair and makeup by me!
The Khaite show! I was so excited to attend this year and what I saw was even better than I could have imagined. The leopard print was my favorite - it felt bold, fun, and effortlessly chic! I loved the full-length furs, sculpted leather coats, and form-fitting knits. To me, Khaite embodies a woman who is both sophisticated and confident. These elements came together to create a timeless, elevated aesthetic that perfectly aligns with my personal style
I went from the show to dinner at Nobu in the same look. It was a perfect New York night.
How good is this leopard print?
Tory Burch skirt, jacket, top, and earrings; Proenza Schouler boots. Hair by Brittany Sullivan (glossy 40s waves inspired by Kylie Jenner) and makeup by me.
Later, the Tory Burch show at the Museum of Modern Art took an elevated twist on American sportswear. The layered sweaters over coats and track pants styled for the evening created a perfect balance of comfort and sophistication. The mix of structured silhouettes with effortless draping made every piece feel wearable yet statement-making. The collection was fresh, fun, and memorable, with a modern take on classic sportswear that felt both empowering and chic. The attention to detail, from the cinched waistlines to the innovative textures, made every look stand out in a way that felt effortlessly cool and timeless.
I wore this gorgeous calfskin coat and skirt, with magnetic coat closures and a zipper down the front of the skirt, paired with thigh high leather boots and these resin Spiked Wave Earrings. I loved how the earrings introduced a new material to the look and added some edge.
I loved all of the looks I saw but these four, along with the one I wore, were among my favorites.
After the show, my outfit carried me through the night to Polo Bar for dinner. It really is one of the chicest dining rooms in Manhattan.
Frankie Shop coat, Margiela jeans, Acne Studios bag, Bottega shoes, Karen Wazen sunglasses
The next morning, I put on this look to pick up coffee and hang out around the city.
Nour Hammour faux fur jacket, COS trousers, Bottega mules, Loro Piana bag
I wore this faux fur to dinner at Cipriani Downtown in Soho the next day. They serve simple, elevated Italian food with incredible service and a classic vibe.
And finally, I wore this for just a bit more shopping on my last day in town!
I can’t think of a better note to end New York Fashion Week and my first Substack. More to come next week!
Xx Tania
